TITLE: Manager, Volunteer Services

DEPARTMENT: Volunteer Services

REPORTS TO: Director, Volunteer Services

LOCATION: 730 Polk Street, San Francisco

STATUS: Full Time, Exempt

CLASSIFICATION:First/Mid-level officials and managers

SUPERVISES: Volunteer Coordinators, and Volunteers

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working with the Director, Volunteer Services, and in partnership with agency stakeholders, the Manager, Volunteer Services leads, engages, and motivates our incredible community and corporate volunteers. The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Volunteer Services department and supervises Volunteer Coordinators to support the recruitment, retention, and engagement of volunteers. This is an ideal position for an energetic, confident, organized and thoughtful individual looking to continue their career helping neighbors in a transformational work environment. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • At least two years of work experience, with preference for experience in the following areas: volunteer management, staff management, community engagement, corporate engagement and high-volume administrative work. 
  • Experience managing databases (Salesforce preferred) and proven computer skills.
  • Successful experience coordinating people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, needs and abilities in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with an ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced and often changing work environment.Strong public speaking and excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable speaking to large groups of people.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, and some holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

  • Degree in social services 
  • Experience working with Salesforce 
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Volunteer Engagement:

  • Develop and implement effective volunteer recruitment strategies through appropriate engagement tools, including volunteer recruitment flyers, online volunteer platforms, social media, corporate and community volunteer fairs, and events.
  • Build relationships with community partners, corporations, businesses, schools and community members to broaden agency outreach. 
  • Schedule and supervise agency volunteers, including but not limited to Kitchen, Grocery Services, Distribution, Community Nutrition Program, Admin and special events 
  • Update volunteer policies and procedures, trainings, orientations and implement a recurring volunteer recognition plan to align with FIMC accreditation standards.

Internal Engagement:

  • Manage, motivate, and train volunteer coordinators (3)
  • Serve as a liaison between program staff and the community to engage volunteers and ensure the best match between the skills, qualifications, and interests of the potential volunteers.
  • Lead volunteer supervisor training sessions to support program staff and their work with volunteers; Host individualized trainings with program staff addressing concerns that arise with program volunteers.
  • Manage the employee New Hire Volunteer Experience (NHVE)
  • Represents Volunteer Services on the Management Team and at other inter-agency meetings

Data Management and Reports:

  • Manage and maintain Volunteers for Salesforce (V4S) system to ensure data integrity and security, including group data imports, lead conversions, mass emails, and data audits.
  • Create and publish volunteer anniversary and volunteer hours reports as they pertain to the volunteer impact and POH’s mission.

Work environment: The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. The work environment will be ever changing with new clients, volunteers and staff members all sharing space and working together in the volunteer offices, kitchen, grocery center and all areas of the agency
